Verification, Validation and Testing: Theory and Practice

Design for Testability application contains the text used to teach a graduate course of the same name. It is an outgrowth of materials assembled for a Design for Testability graduate engineering course and is meant to describe the underlying principles and assumptions of reliability engineering as applied to a wide set of topics. The book (and the course) has evolved over time toward a more pragmatic, "how to" approach. This approach, coupled with a large reliance on diverse Internet-based resources, lends itself to a dry, disperse, almost brutal writing style and the author apologizes to the reader in advance. The book has ten chapters an appendix and bibliography. The chapters cover relevant mathematics, exploratory data analysis, common tools including R language based tools such as Rattle and R Commander. Topics covered include Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) methods, Inductive and Deductive Fault Analysis, Test Benches, Design for Testability, and Accelerated Test methods and standards. In addition to the book, the application provides on-line references to other sources, as well solutions to chapter problems.
