Attaining Nirvana: Enlightenment For All

This book is about attaining Nirvana, complete eradication of suffering, that Buddha attained more than 2500 years ago. Nirvana is also referred as Nibbana, Enlightenment, Liberation or Moksha. But the term Nirvana is preferred throughout this book as other terms can be misleading if read in other context. Also the term Nirvana is used in reference to Buddhism as it is the best that the authors understand and also because the path to attaining Nirvana is properly charted in Buddhism.

Though there are many books on Buddhism, there are very few books referring to any possibility of attaining Nirvana and still less in this very life time. Many monks have attained Nirvana to become Arahat in a single lifetime by following Buddha’s teachings.This book includes only those Buddhist teachings that are relevant to attaining Nirvana and can be easily practiced by any layman.

The authors are neither Buddhist monks nor any Buddhist philosophers and wrote what they found helpful in their practice of Buddhism. The motivation behind writing this book is that when it comes to practicing Buddhism in daily life, it becomes very difficult. The authors have tried to present concepts that are correct as per their knowledge and understanding and experience as Buddhist practitioners.

For those avid fans of the movie The Matrix trilogy there are three chapters dedicated to the movie's interpretation and it's connection to Buddhism titled as Matrix Analogy series.

Though this book is titled attaining Nirvana, every effort is made to make each step of the process of attaining Nirvana fruitful and helpful to everyone.
