The Stoic, by acclaimed novelist Theodore Dreiser, is the conclusion to the famous "Trilogy of Desire", his series of novels (preceded by The Titan and The Financier) about Frank Cowperwood, a businessman based on the real-life streetcar tycoon Charles Yerkes.
The novel was completed by Dreiser just days before his death in 1945, and was the perfect closing to the story of his "tycoon", a character who at the end of his days, already a "billionaire" by today standards, was questioning if all that suffering, all that stress, all that effort to accomplish his "goals", had really being worth.
We highly recommend this trilogy to anybody thinking on going into a life of business.
