Mercedes Rose is a production engineer who has resigned from a semiconductor company after they refused to pay her a decent salary for doing the work of the four men she had replaced. She accepts a position at a company which creates amazing tiny motors and beautiful prosthetic hands. In an effort to discover what is dragging their production down she encounters a charming medical inspector who seems to be turning the workers against the owner. The owner is a bitter but creative genius, full of passion for the prosthetic hands he designs. By the time she identifies the real enemies of the company she and the owner are dealing with a clever arsonist and a vengeful woman who are determined to steal the company, even if murder is required.
