Unknown to him, four year old Benny Bernard is the object of contention between two strong-willed women in his family. One is Sylvia, the women he has always known as mother, and the other Isabella, the oldest child in the family Benny affectionately calls Issie. After Sylvia accidently sweetens tea at Isabella's apartment with LSD laced sugar cubes, she and her husband decide Issie is unfit to watch over Benny any longer. Determined she is going to assume her role as Benny's real mother she, with the help of friends, spirits him away from a church one evening. But unknown to her, her friend's owe a crime boss money for a large supply of marijuana they have taken from him. When two of his men show up to collect, the trio of friends do not have the product nor the money. In order to pay off their debt, the crime lord sends them out on a fake wrestling tour, conveniently rigged for them to win as one of his men serves as the challenger from the audience while two others make bets on the outcome. Benny only knows that he needs to find a way for himself and Issie to escape the clutches of the crime lord.
