Viridis Energy Solutions Ltd (VESL) are investigating the feasibility of creating small scale
geothermal energy plants in Glasgow using water contained in underlying abandoned mine
workings as an energy source. Arup have been commissioned to prepare a preliminary report explaining the engineering issues that need to be addressed when pumping water from old mine workings. Part of this work is a desk study of the available information to assess the technical and commercial viability of such schemes.
