This is clearly unacceptable. Silly is fine – in fact, to be encour-aged, what with the Global Climate Warming Change that’s anthropogenically killing our polar bears and whatnot – but this is just irresponsible. On the other hand, it’s indicative. I require active participation from a reader, and goodwill, and a boxer’s stance, ready to pivot with the blows. If you can’t bear the idea of reading something like Winston Churchill wacked out on acid, or William Burroughs cleaned up and with religion, or Marcel Proust riven with bitterness and without any friends, well this book is probably not for you. Buy it and give it to someone more intelligent.
But enough about me. Did you have a good week? And your significant other, doing well? – that issue of his or hers cleared up? And how about that local professional athletics team that has been performing in such a notable fashion, isn’t it all very comment-worthy? [Assume there follows a pleasant conversation of small talk, to break the ice.]
Since the internet isn’t big enough to sufficiently hold and expose my blog, I have reworked it into book form, which you now hold in your trembling-with-anticipation hands, or behold digitally with eyes anticipatorily bright. Whatever. Anticipation, that’s the idea – as is only right, given the discovery, the revelation of my genius. A genius makes an original and valuable contribution to the world. I give you the blovel, a thing heretofore undreamt of. QED.
The subtitle really does say it, though: a fair bit of political ranting, stupidly patriotic yearning, angsty stuff that I’m frankly too old to still be stuck in, and, well, etc. Self-obsessed? I refer you to Proust, and await an apology. As for being incapable of change, well, no – for example I’ve since become disillusioned with America. It’s not that every country deserves the government it has; it deserves the government it affirms. What a fuul I’ve been, most of my life.
Just stupid. But that’s a different story. Vol 2, or 3. Meantime, Vol 1 tells its own story.
Do you think I contradict myself? I am vast. In any case, telling the truth makes us vulnerable. Even in my anonymity, I want more mercy than you might think I’d give. It’s not hypocrisy. It’s what this work is about. Flawed humanity.
