In this text Fox examines the special character of American economy and peoples: its origin and effect on the progress of humanity; both spiritual and physical. Fox reminds his readers to "remember that America is not to be just a new copy of something old, but something quite new, and, therefore, something better than anything that has gone before." In this essay, first published in 1934, Fox spells out his interpretation of the historical background out of which the United States arose. Emmet Fox (1886-1951) was a famous New Thought spiritual leader of the early 20th century.
