Danny thinks nobody understands him. But how will he cope in a world where, suddenly, he can’t understand a word anybody says....

Danny Kent has just turned 14 and is nostalgic for his childhood. He yearns for his absent Mum. He wants to be a ‘real’ kid again. And now, after a strange altercation with the ghost of a junk food eating folk guitarist, he’s woken up to find that he’s the only person in the whole world who can speak English.

Faced with a world that can no longer understand a word he says and where the words of everyone else just sounds like ‘gobbling’ and ‘clucking’, Danny must try to make sense of his new situation. With his father now also having strangely vanished this is a story of a boy who finds out what happens when his fears that nobody understands him become terrifyingly, literally true.
