Guru Sahib was against the prevailing Hindu caste system. Like his Guru Angad Sahib Ji and First Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, he further abolished the Caste System.
Guru Amardas Ji endeavored hard to bring women up in the society. He lifted the status of women and advocated equality of women. He very sternly prohibited the old tradition and practice of Sati (the dying of the widow on the funeral pyre of her husband).
