A lot of people are overweight. It puts you at risk for chronic degenerative diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain forms of cancer. If you lose weight you look better and have more energy.

The best way to lose weight is:

1.) Eat mostly healthy foods prepared from scratch. Avoid processed foods, too much sugar, salt and fat.
2.) Be physically active everyday.

It seems like everybody has got ideas on how to lose weight. You can probably find 500 books at #611-613 at your local library. There are no magic secrets.

For me, it's self-respect and my idea of nobility. There's no way I can ever get fat because of the way I think. To me it's everything I abhor. It's human weakness. I'll be damned if I'm so weak that I become a fat plug.

All them weight-for-height tables are a bunch of crap. Look at your stomach. If it's sticking out more than one inch, you're overweight.

Most of the lose weight knowledge and programs for sale out there is at best a minimally inspirational tool. At worst, it's snake oil. It's a big lie and a big waste of money. You don't need to join some phony, official-sounding "program" to lose weight. Keep it basic. Eat basic. Move physically.

If you lose weight, most of your diseases will go away like type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

Being overweight puts extra pressure on your joints. The cartilage gradually wears away, causing a form of arthritis known as osteoarthritis.
Sleep apnea has been linked to being overweight.

Many women and some men develop eating disorders and have body image issues. They feel bad because they feel fat.

How much you weigh is determined by the amount and type of food you eat and how much physical activity you do.

Fad diets don't work.

Shut the TV off and live an inspired life.

Everything comes down to one statement in my Diet-Busters book; you have an image in your head of you in your ideal state. Honor it.

You don't need weight-loss drugs. It's all in your head.

Obesity surgery is invasive. There are possible side effects.
