US COPYRIGHT LAW: OWNERSHIP, FAIR USE AND THE IDEA/EXPRESSION DISTINCTION

This publication elucidates some key themes in US Copyright Law, notably ownership, the fair use dimension and the idea/expression distinction. Importantly, it teases out some of the more intriguing arguments posited by leading proponents of the Lockean school of thought in an effort at advancing the desirable natural justice objective of giving authors full control over their creations, thereby helping to prepare the ground for a more inclusive copyright system.
