I sank into an uneasy sleep, my head pounding and whispers echoing around my mind.
I knew immediately that something was wrong when I awoke. For starters, there was a chill in the room and Torri knew that I got cold, something to do with the change. She would always close the windows and turn the heating up; she had even told me that she had done that, so there could be no reasonable excuse for my being so cold.
Secondly, I saw that although my headache wasn’t so bad anymore, the shapes still hadn’t gone from my vision. They seemed darker now and I didn’t just catch them out of the corner of my eyes, they seemed to be there constantly.
Thirdly, and the thing that I really should have noticed first, was the fact that there was a man standing in the doorway of my room.
I shot out of bed but a gust of wind (where the hell had that came from?), knocked me against the wall, pinning me in place. “Who are you?!†I shouted, scared but also confused, very confused.
What were the shapes? And how the hell had the man managed to have me pinned against my own wall when he was standing over the other side of the room?
He stepped inside, and recognition dawned on me. “Mr Croft?†I gasped, now even more confounded.
