However, I think it isn’t so much that the beliefs were myths as the marketing approaches were unfit for the modern information age with individual’s wider accessibility of the world’s content. The article states, “consider the following generally-accepted product and promotion beliefs that are now almost mythical in nature”; but then states “belief–—>21st century myth” with the actual comparisons. The article recognizes that these traditional approaches don’t work in the modern age as noted by the inclusion of the “21st century” along with the “myth” of the actual comparisons. But the use of the word “myth” isn’t the best description, which is why I would call it marketing approach or as this diagram below depicts as market(ing) orientation (McGraw-Hill Marketing 8th Canadian Edition Chapter 1).
