The greatest chef in the world is a man called Lorenzo. His food is magic, but only a lucky few ever experience it because Lorenzo’s restaurant only opens once a year. And the real mystery is this—nobody knows where it’ll open. China, Australia, Brazil—the location always changes.

Ever since Alex Peabody’s grandpa taught her how to cook and told her stories about Lorenzo, Alex has wanted nothing more than to taste that great chef’s dishes and find out what makes them extraordinary. Now, she has that chance. She’s been selected as one of the few to attend one glorious Night at The Basking Iguana.

The invitation, however, is just the first clue in a treasure hunt that spans the globe. Before Alex can find Lorenzo’s hidden restaurant, she must track down the other clues. And nobody wants her to go on this quest. Not her estranged and domineering husband Stan, not her stay-at-home mother, and definitely not the tall, shadowy man she keeps spotting at the oddest moments.

But Alex decides she must do this. So what if she’s never stepped foot on a plane, or gone anywhere on her own? So what if a strange guy might be stalking her? This quest is her chance to show everyone—her mother, Stan, even herself—that she has the guts to search for her destiny and become something greater than she’s ever imagined.
