When Will Shepherd finds a legendary sword in an ancient forest, the eighteen-year-old awakens forces that have remained dormant for thousands of years. Now the armies of an empire are approaching his rural homeland, a prophecy is being set in motion, and in the distant east a dictator is rising to force all into submission and, in the process, to undo the very fabric that separates the living from the dead.
