Description
This is first in a series of easy to grasp eBook series on data science and six sigma. Six sigma is a quality improvement methodology which makes heavy use of statistics. So, before going over to six sigma, I thought of talking about some basic statistics. This eBook is not meant to provide you an elaborative or comprehensive knowledge about statistics. The subject of statistics is vast and this small eBook is not sufficient enough to learn statistics. In fact, what we will be learning in this small eBook is rather statistics as such which is sufficient for understanding the underlying statistical model employed in six sigma implementation.
The statistics that we will go through is applied statistics, so please do not expect the derivations of the formulae used in this eBook. My focus is on letting you the underlying concepts of statistics as explained in plain English language.
We won’t have to do the lengthy calculations or remember the formulae as such, for that we have computers. There are so many good software packages available for statistical computations. The most basic being excel or the spreadsheet, the more sophisticated being are R language, SPSS, MATLAB and many more.
