The Valley Stories Omnibus (Alyce, Consuela, and Victoria)

The three Valley stories now in one collection. Set in an imaginary world reminiscent of 18th century Europe, with interlinking characters that tell a unified story. Alyce and Victoria are retellings of Cinderella and Snow White. Consuela is a remix of The Pickwick Papers, telling the classic story of a smart servant girl.

Alyce: To a member of a minority group that opposes his rule, King Timson's brooding, glum palace is associated only with imprisonment and death. Though it's been a long time since any Sherban was arrested, Alyce feels little in common with her ruler and is quite content to stay unnoticed--until a mandatory summons to the King's court dance leaves her no choice.

Consuela: When an accident lands a Midian peasant girl as translator for a sheltered foreigner, she leaves her previous life (including all thoughts of her former boyfriend Umberto) to journey into revolution-torn South Blensia. Consuela doesn't plan on becoming attached to her naive new friends--until the revolutionaries develop an unfortunate interest in them.

Victoria: The second of six daughters of the unpopular king of Curblint, Victoria has lived her whole life shut away from the outside world. Her younger sisters sneak out to wild parties, while her oldest sister Bella has endured years of hardship for being too truthful. Victoria, as an accomplished liar, seems set for a smooth ride--until a mysterious killer causes Bella to disappear.
