Four in a Fury

What do you get when you take four keen young New Zealand blokes living in California and give them the keys to an over-powered ex-cop car? You get Four in a Fury, the entertaining and often scarcely believable account of a ten-week road trip across the USA, starting in Squaw Valley and ending up in New York City. With our trusty car, cheap tent and an old map, we navigated some of the most spectacular parts of the US while getting into some precarious situations on the way - running naked from the police, almost starting a forest fire and sleeping rough in city parks, to name a few. All this with a broken air-conditioning system in the middle of a stifling North American summer. It is as much a spiritual journey as it is an adventure, which is what a road trip should be. Ten weeks to travel where we wanted and when we wanted. Nobody knew where we were. Not our parents, not our friends, not the FBI. The sense of freedom was exquisite. It is a trip we each know will never forget – can never forget. Which is why I was compelled to write this book. I remember this trip as if it were yesterday. It’s a story that needs to be told, and hopefully it will enlighten you about aspects of America you didn’t know. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.
