A Story Before I Die

Venture behind the veil of 1001 NIGHTS to discover Zadie: an intelligent and sheltered young woman on the cusp of attaining her dream of becoming a philosophy master (teacher). Unfortunately, after generations of prosperity and decades of peace, her beloved homeland is falling apart at the bloodied hands of its cuckolded King Shahrayar… who also happens to be Zadie’s estranged childhood best friend. After her insufferable younger sister, Dharia, goads Zadie into sacrificing her dreams to stop Shah’s blood lust, Zadie discovers the situation is far more complicated than either sister fathomed.

Stumbling blind into her new roles of people’s champion, king’s adviser and potentially the queen, Zadie must harness every ounce of training to overcome the threat of a coup, even if it requires the loss of her long-held dreams, her blossoming love, and ultimately, her short life.
