The Leatherstocking Tales are a series of 5 novels by American writer James Fenimore Cooper, each featuring the main hero Natty Bumppo, known by European settlers as "Leatherstocking," 'The Pathfinder", and "The Trapper" and by the Native Americans as "Deerslayer," "La Longue Carabine" and "Hawkeye".

The Zane Trilogy by best-selling author Zane Grey are historical/western novels based on events that occurred in the Ohio River Valley in the late eighteenth century. It features the exploits of Lewis Wetzel, a historical personage who had dedicated his life to the destruction of Native Americans and to the protection of nascent white settlements in that region.
