Blackwater Bayou (Loopers Book 1)

Austin Coles is a prosecutor for the State of Florida. He experiences a career crisis when a death row inmate is found to be innocent due to prosecutorial misconduct. Austin decides to take a sabbatical and sail from Pensacola Bay to Key West with only his cat, Pyewacket, for company. His plan is simple, he's going to kick back at free anchorages, fish for his dinner and sip margaritas until he runs out of money. He's even taken a couple of sailing lessons.

Before he can raise sail he is lured into taking on one public defender client by the Florida Justice League and by the siren call of an unattainable, smoking hot, redhead, who does work for the FJL. Austin quickly regrets his decision as his pursuit of the redhead runs hard aground and his defense catches the interest of a powerful Panhandle family as well as the Russian Mafia. He is quickly reminded why this part of the Gulf calls itself the Redneck Riviera. His life becomes further entangled when he docks his boat among a group of Loopers. The Loopers proceed to worm their way into his stormy love life as well as his prosecution. When the local judges start piling on with more public defender appointments, Austin realizes that the Justice System, the Loopers and the Universe all have plans for him, and sailing away to Key West isn't one of them.
