Writing the City: Travel Stories

From London to Paris, Dublin, Johannesburg and other interesting corners of the earth, join these ten contributors as they pack you into their suitcases and jet off around the world or take you around their hometown to explore the beauty and craziness that is life. Their stories are full of fun, adventure and mishaps.
Travel along with Daniel as he rides a trolley, totally drunk, down a Dublin street or Irene and her three friends as they get lost in Rome and in a beautiful man’s eyes outside a well-known fashion house. Eunice, Danuta, David and Dinah take you around central Johannesburg to experience everyday South African life and its rich cultures. Sarah and Susan walk the streets of London, Kristen jets around Europe, and Nicole has a brush with darker side of life in Dracula’s Mansion… in Australia.
This collection of short travel memoirs was written by postgraduate students as the final assignment for a course in Travel Writing at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, and compiled by Masters students of the Publishing Studies department at Wits for a course in Digital Publishing.
