The Desires of Dark Energy

Yun's brothers never trusted Gede, not that he blamed them for it. The old Gede had tried to kill them. But teenage Yun, wanting a boyfriend and not having the slightest way of getting one the old-fashioned way, remade him as she thought he should be. A girl can do that if she's a genemodded neurosculptor. This new Gede loved Yun with all his heart. He was also remarkably more peaceful than his old version, who had been a vat-grown assassin. Part of Yun wanted a peaceful man, even though someone of the new Gede's calm disposition might not fit in with the rest of the family. After all, Yun and her brothers were Anmang, the most feared and hated terrorists in the Sixth Epoch of humanity, hunted from the Oort Cloud to the crawling cities of Mercury. The new Gede's job: trying to calm the rest of his family the hell down, before they massacred yet another worldhab. If he failed, the body count might just be more than they could run from. This is a short story.
