All you need to perform this escape is a roll of duct tape, a thumb tip, a pair of scissors, a safety pin and a dime. Have all these items at hand in your magic case or on a table, the thumb tip concealed in the hole of the roll of duct tape.
Invite two adult females to the stage (two men if you are a female magician).
You begin by intoning: Ladies and gentlemen, I will now perform an escape from which even the great Houdini himself was unable to successfully escape. Yes, Houdini escaped from jails and coffins and steel barrels, but the one escape with which he had the greatest difficulty was an escape we call, (SAY THE FOLLOWING LOUDLY WITH GREAT DRAMA, LIKE AN OLD MELODRAMATIC MOVIE).”The Thumb Tie of Doom!” (PUTTING EMPHASIS ON THE WORD ‘DOOM’).
