Microbial Xylanase: An overview of multiplicity, regulation and optimized production

Industrial enzymes are rapidly gaining ground world over due to the various advantages they offer over conventional techniques. Enzymes are safer for the environment as they reduce industrial waste and sustain a cleaner environment in several ways. In view of the wide industrial applications of cell wall degrading enzymes (such as in the biomass to ethanol program, paper and pulp, textile and food industry), screening of natural ecosystems for isolation of novel microbial strains for studying their production capabilities as well as characterization of catalytic versatility, their regulation and applications are areas of important research interest. This book presents an overview of the recent research efforts associated with microbial xylanase production, multiplicity and regulation.
