This workbook is for candidates for JPLT of any level. This version of the book covers all the kanjis assigned for First, Second and Third graders at Japanese elementary schools(440 kanjis in all).You can check out how many kanjis Japanese elementary schoolers need to be familiar with at the age of seven, eight and nine.
If your aim is to just pass the exams, you don't necessarily have to be able to spell out all of those kanjis, but you need to make sure you know how to read all of them.
The workbook is also a powerful vocabulary builder as you will be picking up other kanjis and expressions reading the example sentences again and again.
