Why I have written this book and why you should read it:
I am a registered pharmacist and medical journalist from India.
During the last six months, we have observed a word many times; everyone is writing about it, everyone is talking about it. Newspapers are full of it; news channels are talking and having endless discussion about it. The word is Ebola. Thousands of people in Africa had died due to Ebola.
People have a lot of confusion on this disease. Countless books on Ebola are written and circulated on internet – thanks to the self publishing. I have decided to read some books on ebola; however, I was disappointed when I checked the background of authors. Surprisingly, none have a medical degree, a very few are healthcare professionals. I wondered how someone without a medical background can write on this very serious disease. The information for these books is taken from newspapers; which further adds confusion to this disease. The newspapers can’t be an authentic and valid source for a medical book. Ideally, recent research or review articles published in pharmaceutical and medicine journal should be cited to write a book on a disease.
Then, I thought, what about writing a book on Ebola. I have a postgraduate degree in pharmacy and a research background also. I have written this book after an exhaustive research on ebola.
I have written this short book so that a person can quickly understand the disease and its potential treatments. The recently published articles and reviews on Ebola have been referenced to create this short informative ebook (also available in print).
Description of Book
With its devastating outbreak recently in East Africa, the deadly Ebola disease has caught worldwide media attention, assuming the stature of a global crisis now. It has a mortality rate of 90%, which is alarming enough to send shivers down the spine of anyone who comes to know of it. Situations turned grave and epidemic as treatment of Ebola is currently not available.
Ebola has so far been limited to the African countries; however, it has every potential to spread to other countries. Many healthcare professionals of the US and Africa have already contracted the disease while they were engaged in treating the Ebola-affected people. If a cure isn't found soon, it may turn into a full-blown pandemic. It is killing thousands everyday and what's worse –it has no cure till now. That's enough to throw anyone at his/her wit's end.

About the Author
Kapil Pal holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Pharmacy. He is a registered pharmacist based in India. He had earned a national scholarship to study at the prestigious National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Punjab, India. He has a lot of medical articles to his credit, published in the Drug Today Medical Times, India. He authored three chapters for the Encyclopaedia on Pharmacology and Society, Sage Publications, which is currently in the publishing stage.
