The Acharnians, The Knights, and Peace: The Greek Text with a Translation for Readers of Latin

Three of Aristophanes' anti-war plays. In The Acharnians, Dicaeopolis, tired of the seemingly endless conflict between Athens and Sparta, decides to make a separate peace on his own. In The Knights Aristophanes considers the problems raised by a population that is too easily swayed by unscrupulous politicians. And in Peace, Trygaeus flies to Olympus on a dung-beetle to get Zeus to put an end to the Peloponnesian War. He discovers the gods are gone and War has taken over, and has imprisoned Peace. Trygaeus manages to free Peace and restore harmony among the Greeks.
