Noel's Invisible Mistletoe

*An American short story
Noel was not a typical native New Yorker. She was upbeat and perky. The blonde curly top dared to believe the best in everyone. Those who repulsed her charms, she suffered with silently. And then she instantly forgave them and moved on.
After the annual Christmas party, Noel went home alone and empty handed. She had no one else to blame. She had stood by the punchbowl and laughed with her coworkers for hours. The one present that a girlfriend gave to her was instantly re-gifted to a homeless person on the subway.
Noel went to bed that night and dreamed an astounding dream. In the night vision, an angel of light came to her. He gave her a tremendous gift. She felt as honored as the Virgin Mary. The Angel of the Lord smiled at her like a very close friend.
"This invisible mistletoe is a symbol of God's love in you. Take it with you wherever you go in life," He said with genuine compassion.
Noel blinked and then she awoke and saw the clock. She did not panic as she got ready for work in a New York minute. The invisible mistletoe was set atop her pretty head like the garland of a victor's crown.
