A Compendium of Glimpses

A book of haiku, senryu and haibun poems written by the author between 1998 and 2008. Parts 1, 2 and 4 consist of poems written in an around the cities of Hanoi (in north Vietnam) and Hue (in central Vietnam) describing the history, culture, and lifestyles of the Vietnamese people and the author's experiences whilst living, travelling, and working there as an English teacher. Part 3 comprises of poems written in the United Kingdom where the author now works as a clinical psychologist. Similarities and differences between the two cultures are subtlety made apparent via the "snapshots" and "mindful moments" in the three-line poem forms that capture an array of both day-to-day and extra-ordinary life experiences in these two countries.
