Sergeant Major 'Abe' Lucas and his troops discover the decimated remains of a settler's homestead, the aftermath of a devastating Indian raid. Originally formed from the Civil War United States Colored Troop regiments, Buffalo Soldiers served throughout the western plains during the Indian Wars of the 1870-1890s. Many of these same troops went on to battle in the Spanish-American War.
