Description
We present you an Anthology of the First three Novels of Virginia Woolf and a compilation of short stories:
A powerful story of self-actualization. Rachel is a young woman who ventures on a long journey to South America where the fact that she is long away from home, and away from past influences, she is now able to make choices for herself, and adapt to change. This is one of the best books we have ever read.
Virginia Woolf does such a wonderful job of revealing the many facets of an individual. She applies that task to couples in love. It is a marvel that she not only identifies the many nuances of a glance, a word, a movement, but that she also conveys them to the reader in a perfect sentence. Her descriptions are phenomenal, starting with the surroundings and continuing with the character's facial expressions. Some of the passages are pure poetry and the characters are beautifully and consistently drawn out. An excellent read!
First truly experimental novel of Virginia Woolf. Is the highly impressionistic story of Jacob Flanders, a character based on Woolf's own brother. This is a coming-of-age story as we follow Jacob from the rocky coasts of Cornwall to the sun-drenched shores of Greece. Anyone looking for a conventional story or plot won't find it here. Jacob's Room is Virginia Woolf during a highly experimental stage; a stage during which she was developing her pure stream-of-consciousness style. Jacob's Room is for very "literary" readers. Those who love good literature, however, will find Jacob's Room a pure poetic masterpiece of the highest order.
This is a slim volume. Virginia Woolf doesn't write stories in the usual sense, with a well-defined plot or a conclusive ending. These stories are more like sketches, concise but incisive, and they leave a powerful impact. As usual, Virginia Woolf excels in her prose. Every sentence is crafted beautifully, rich in words and richer in meaning. Reading her stories is both a provocative experience and a pleasant pastime.
