Existential Musings: Poems in LA and Beyond (Searching for Meaning Book 1)

At once simple yet profound, this collection of poetry dives deep into the contemplation of the meaning of existence. In particular, it's a journey through the past two years of the author's life as he studied philosophy and adjusted to life in what was a whole new world for him. Moving from Michigan after having studied theology academically and leisurely for over six years, the author began a new--albeit brief--chapter in his life by moving to Los Angeles to study philosophy at the Graduate level. In this transition he not only had to learn the many languages--philosophical, theological, social, political, existential--of this new world, but he had to figure out his own place in it. He had to continue to create himself and how he envisioned reality in the midst of a radically different world. This book is the poetical story of existential self-reflection of his time there and his transition back to his world back home.

This book of poetry covers the existential reflections of the author upon subjects such as truth, morality, emotion, worlds which were familiar and worlds which were foreign, relationships, love, economics, politics, society, and God. It is the first of at least six books of poetry. Each of these books will reflect the existential interests of the author at different points of his life. Taken together, these works will provide an outline to the authors life, but most especially, in existential Kierkegaardian fashion, will also provide a mirror reflection of the reader. Readers, then, have the chance to examine themselves as they follow the author along as he examines himself through these works.
