Therefore, Saiva “Siddantam” complements what Vedas mention as our ultimate reality. Both are essential for a complete understanding of the sacred secrets to lead a holistic life of happiness that teaches us to strike a balance between “Artha” (professional life), “kama” (enjoying sensual, sexual and material pleasures within an ethical framework) and “DHARMA”, the most original and untranslatable concept of India.
Saint TIROUVALUVAR puts it beautifully “karka kasadara Katra pin nirka atharku thaga” which means: “Acquiring Knowledge is good but applying it is better”. Therefore, I chose to write only on the most pertinent concepts for today’s world, in a practical way, by using only simple words. I chose from the vast Vedic knowledge only the essence and the gist that is still relevant to modern man keeping in mind this question that I asked to myself: “how this particular law of Cosmos can be expressed so that it can be applied in a concrete manner today using as little Sanskrit terms as possible?”
We need also to cope with many ups and downs of life and often we are left alone to face many difficult situations in our work, family and society. What we need is to master the laws of Cosmos which alone can infuse in us wisdom necessary to surf on those “opposites” like success and failure, sadness and happiness, euphoria and depression, chaos and order.
