Description

While many people view prepping to be a new idea or even new fad, the truth is it has been around since at least the 1800’s. It just wasn’t called prepping it was called life.

Most everyone had a garden of some sort, they canned, put things back to get themselves through the winters and other hardships, but now people are so used to their comforts (a store on every other corner, modern appliances that run on electricity, etc.) that they view prepping as a waste of time.

Unfortunately, shows like ‘Doomsday Preppers’ and all those talking zombies, don’t help promote the idea of being prepared minded, but instead make those who may otherwise listen, just turn away from all the ‘crazy preppers’ who think the end of the world is near.

This is unfortunate, because most people are not the least bit ready for any disruptions to their way living. It doesn’t take much to throw your life into a tailspin and leave you wondering ‘what now’. For most people, even the slightest interruption to their ‘modern way of life’ will leave them devastated.

It doesn’t have to be that way. With just the smallest of changes to your way of thinking and doing things you can be ahead of the game. Wouldn’t it be nice knowing that even if there were an interruption to your electric, or you couldn’t get to the grocery store for an extended period of time, or you lost your job that you and your family would still be okay?

Wouldn’t you sleep better knowing not only did you have a few things in reserve, but also the skills to replenish those reserves as well as the ability to support yourself and your family? How empowering would it be to know that no matter what was going on in the world around you, you and yours could continue on?

The best part? It doesn’t have to be all or nothing - it doesn’t have to be excruciatingly painful drudgery — it can actually be fun to learn the new skills. You may find that you enjoy this new lifestyle over the commercialized, overcrowded, over stimulated world where you currently find yourself.

Now don’t get me wrong, while this may be touted as the ‘simpler life’, it is by no means a cake walk. There will be lots of hard work involved, but the kind of work that leaves you feeling satisfied, proud, fulfilled. It will wear you out and yet lift you up. You will get dirty, sweaty and at times ache all over, but you will still probably feel better than you possibly ever have before you choose the ‘simple life’.

Are you ready for a little self-sufficiency? Are you ready to take pride in yourself and your abilities to not only survive what life throws at you, but thrive in spite of it all? Are you ready to give your children the skills, knowledge and life that will prepare them to face whatever challenges this sometimes harsh world may bring them?

If so, then let me walk you through some basic skills that will get you well on your way to becoming a strong, independent ‘homesteading prepper’.
