Description
Several books on both the practical aspects of ceramics and works which deal with aspects of the medium’s history include a glossary of terms. In the majority of cases, however, the information they provide is limited to short descriptions. My aim in writing this book is the provision of detailed information on materials and methods arising out of recent research.
When featured in the Northern Ceramic Society (Newsletter No.170, June 2013) the reviewer described the work as;
‘An extremely useful guide for those researching the history of ceramic production but who lack knowledge of practical potting techniques.’
‘An easily understood glossary of terms used in the manufacturing techniques of all types of ceramics.’
‘It concentrates mainly on European ceramics but also has references to those of the Near and Far East which played such a vital role in its early development. Many of the entries are very detailed and others fairly short but together they provide an excellent source of reference within one book’.
‘The author has done extensive research on ceramic techniques for previous books which he has written and is well qualified to write with authority on this subject.’
