Description

In the early 1970’s India’s population was about a half billion [“B”]; by 2013 it was over twice that. It will be over 3 times that by 2050, to nearly 1.7 B and still exploding dangerously. Developing countries, excluding China, go from 4.5 B in 2013 to over 7 B by 2050. Sub-Saharan Africa will more than double population. India [“I”] will pass China [“C”] by 2025 to be the largest population of any nation. (U. S. 3rd) The U. S. Population. Ref. Bureau also projects U. S. population to increase at same rate as India’s,2013-2050. Pollution and crowding in I & C: is deadly & growing worse. Earth has only half as many animals now as 40 years ago! We shrank those numbers! Explosions in population. combine with other harmful factors. Richer lifestyles, many more cars, gadgets, much longer lifespans, travel, more farm animals for food, less veggies. Even the same size population would hurt and pollute Earth vastly more. Population increases, times all these factors is disastrous. Many (most?) babies deeply unwanted anyway, by-products of sex. Terrible for the “babies” with 80-100 years of the “new” lifespans, plus bad for parents & societies. Better birth planning would be good for [1]“population” control and [2] for above other reasons. Are we insane? Are we blind to population. as deadly problem worsening all others? Many population “experts” are confident world population. will stop growing by c. 2100.A 1938 group of top experts forecast U. S. population. peaking in 1980 with150 million [“m”], then decreasing. (Instead nearly 400 m today.) Not one disagreeing voice. Report published by U. S. government. Books, magazines screamed a constant worry 1900-1938: not enough babies in U.S. or Europe. U. S. Pres. Teddy Roosevelt warned audiences of the sin of race suicide by birth control. Experts fight over whether climate change is real or not, man-made or not. But no fights over whether pollution, resource exhaustion, species annihilation, population growth are ongoing here on the surface where we live. Authors are Dr. S.Chandrasekhar who died in 2007. The final touches to this book were made by author Pohlman. We worked on it for 40 years; right up to his death. “Chandra” agreed with all points now here stressed. His innovative ideas, field trials, including “incentives,” were all marvelous.
