In the series opener the Government triggers a retaliation on US soil that forces Joe & Tilly to take their family to "Higher Ground". The homecoming of their son from the military is marred by a catastrophic event. Joe was preparing for years, they all said he was paranoid, now he needs to lead them to a safe place.
