Jeremiah Johnson by Warner Home Video

Around 1850 ex-soldier Jeremiah Johnson (Robert Redford) escapes civilization deciding to become a mountain man and heads to the mountains of Colorado. Soon he meets Bear Claws (Will Greer) a grizzled mountain veteran who teaches him mountain survival. Jeremiah wants to live in peace in the rugged wilderness, as he trades with the native Crow tribe. After coming upon a massacred family, he adopts a boy (Josh Albee) and later marries the daughter of a Flathead chief. They settle into a mountain home and are living peaceably when the U.S. cavalry come calling wanting them to lead through the mountain passes to rescue white settlers. They pass through a Crow burial ground and in retaliation the Crow kill his family. Jeremiah on a mission of payback becomes a legendary Indian killer.
