Excerpt

Sibyl turned to Wright. But he was gone! He was already walking back to Abran and Miron.
"You distracted me so he could get way!" she accused Cloud.
Cloud started flying around her.
"I don't want you to kill Wright because of his stupid ideas," he laughed.
She grimaced. So, this was just one of Wright's silly ideas! He was never really serious in becoming intimate with her. She should be glad he had no interest in her as a woman. But somehow, such thought bothered her more.
"So, what do you plan to do now, Sibyl, now that you know the truth about Lor?"
"I have agreed to become his swordhand for a year. For the moment, there is no reason for me to break that agreement. And in order to get the gold coins he promised to pay me for my services, I have to accompany him and his League."
"You know, you could just charge him with all the gold you need as payment for the powers he had taken from you. He would not mind if he could not get back his fighting skills from you."
"Of course he won't mind. He had learned more and better fighting techniques than the ones he used to possess when we exchanged!"
"But if he pays you, you don't have to stay with him. You could go your own way into this world and live a quiet and comfortable life if you so chose."
Cloud's suggestion made sense. She glanced at Wright. She wouldn't be losing sleep if they parted ways now. He always dragged her into dangerous situation, this one included!
But she could not deny that in spite of the dangers she faced because of Wright, she had learned new things. Became stronger, independent and formidable in her own right.
"I might just do that one of these days, Cloud. But this is a new world for me. I need to know first the rules of this time. Unless of course you would come with me?"
The black cloud stopped flying and remained hovering in front of her.
"I'm sorry. I can't leave Wright."
"You are worried about him?"
"No. But ever since I met him, my life in this world had become very interesting, and I get to absorb a lot of information!"
"Cloud, Wright is not like you. He will not live forever." Sibyl couldn't help but feel sad for the little black cloud.
"I know. But with the way he is living his life, he would father a lot of children! And the possibility that one or even two of his children would be like him is almost certain. And then there would be his children's children! His blood, his fascination with adventure would continue with his heirs, Sibyl! And I would like to get to know them and tell them everything about Wright."
Sibyl was about to smile because of Cloud's optimism when she realized something.
"Are you telling me that Wright now has a lot of children?" That thought disturbed her greatly, though she didn't know the reason.
"Possibly. He had a lot of lovers, and one of them could have borne him a child. We had been wandering around Haldor for twenty years. I would not be surprised if one of these days, a young man or woman would come to us and introduce himself or herself as his child."
Sibyl became livid with anger! Wright had not changed at all! He still treated women as playthings! Having fun with them for a while and then leaving them when he had lost interest!
"Are you alright, Sibyl?"
"I am going to kill him, Cloud!" she blurted.
