SWAMI VIVEKANANDA - HIS LIFE AND WORK

Swami Vivekananda was one of the prominent personalities of nineteenth century world . He was one of the greatest man of modern India .During his thirty nine years of physical life he did tremendous work . He awakened and inspired the masses in India and abroad. He introduced the immortal philosophy of Vedanta and science of Yoga to the western world . But more important than what he preached , what work he did is the fact how he lived that glorious and divine life , so that even after more than hundred years , his life and work is relevant today as it was years before and people are curious to know and understand it . Swami Vivekananda was one of those rare persons who are blessed to enjoy life in renunciation and through whom the divinity expresses itself fully . Because of this only , amongst the hard materialists , he could talk about renunciation in glowing terms , though some of them would say that here is a man who has come from a country which has been dead for thousand year and is talking about renunciation . But he held his ground amongst them by the sheer force of his character . No book can encompass Swamiji ' s life fully , but here attempt is made to describe his life and work , with emphasis on specific incidents in his life in detail .
