Description
Finding themselves stranded in rural Appalachia, where the tight-lipped locals refuse to reveal why the landscape is crumbling, a disillusioned photographer, a professor, a lonely townie and a confused businessman try to right the wrongs of a 150-year-old undead nemesis with a fondness for paper.
Struggling photographer Susie would rather live in poverty in Chicago than return to her remote hometown in the mountains. But when she receives a disturbing phone call from an old high school friend, she throws reason aside and ventures back south into her native land of twisting roads, log cabins, and poor cell phone reception.
When she arrives, however, Susie soon discovers that things are much, much worse than she anticipated. Which is saying a lot, as Susie is no stranger to the capricious spirits in the area that, annoyingly, always seem to forget that they’re dead. But even the usual ghosts don’t want to get messed up in the latest crisis: the arrival of a charming newcomer with an evil agenda to destroy digital publishing.
Unaware of her new telegram-toting adversary, Susie soon finds herself stranded in her old home alongside two wayward urbanites—both of whom vie relentlessly for her affections despite the deteriorating situation. Together, they must trek into the darkness in order to save her friend, her home, and the future of electronic communication.
