I am Anne and this is my story.
For years I was a chronic people-pleaser and rescuer. The people in my life would have described me as nice, kind, helpful, and a good friend. Yet I was deeply unhappy, frequently exhausted and neglected what was most important to me.
Then one day I realised I wanted to change my life more than I wanted to stay in the same rut. I couldn't carry on in the same vein.
This is the story of my journey, in which I learned about boundaries, the dynamics of the rescuer-victim relationship, and explored my motivations. It hasn't been an easy journey, but it was a necessary one. In this book I describe the tools I used to change and the stages I went through to leave the old, unhappy me behind.
