Inspired by the seemingly random nature of Japanese zuihitsu writing, Dancing Embers sidesteps the cliches of the martial arts and gently pries open their non-existence.

In this work, Sleiman draws on over a decade of his experiences of living and training in Japan. The 99 passages of the book - some no more than a single, expressive sentence - offer unexpectedly profound glimpses into the natural beauty of budo.

By bringing out the normality of this least understood of arts, Sleiman once again offers his gratitude to his teacher and provides a unique addition to the zuihitsu literary and martial arts traditions.
