📖 Description
The Fables of Aesop offered morals for the edification and instruction of his contemporaries. Many were subversive. They poked fun at kings and tyrants in anthropomorphic guise. His audience would know what despot or “hero†was being skewered, so Aesop had no need to name names. In our own frenetic age of moral relativism, many of the old adages still apply but new ones are also needed. James Thurber, David Sedaris and other modern fabulists have taken their shots. Here’s a new collection that calls ‘em as it sees ‘em.
