Description
Paradoxical as it may sound, the Turks have gone through more changes than the most nations, and their cultural traits diversed throughout centuries since they lived as nomadic tribes in parts of Asia until finally Turkish Republic which came into being in earlier 20th century. At different stages of their history they embraced Shamanistic Beliefs, Buddhism, Manichaeism, Zoroastrianism, etc. until they accepted the Islamic faith more than a thousand years ago. To this respect, Literature in few developing countries approaches Turkish Literature in scope, in diversity, in sophistication or in cultural impact.
Inspite of its 2000 year history, Turks, their administraters, private sector, municipalities, and political parties have been still grafting billions dollars of corruptions today and are potential threat for all nations of the world
The urban and rural life depicting selection presented in this book, although far from representative, provides a broad spectrum of the literature of the Late Ottoman Empire and Earlier Turkish Republic era in it’s a century-long period.
