In the early morning the Marines of First Platoon moved in to take positions on the high ridge near the river. Their mission was to watch the village, to capture or kill VC guerrilla fighters who might have spent the night in the village. Sometimes it’s not about the big battles. Sometimes it’s about being alone in the dark, wet, miserable and scared. Sometimes it’s about a moment that stretches into an eternity. Sometimes it’s about who is left alive after the violence.
Finding Charlie is a story about how it was.
