Chapter One
Lucian slams his palms down onto the table to get Byron's attention.
Byron glances around the room and notices everyone around the altar, standing, their golden goblets raised.
Byron rises from the chair easily, staring at Lucian with hate blazing in his eyes. He brings the goblet to his mouth and lets the warm, thick fluid run over his tongue and down his throat. The sweet saltiness tingles down his spine.
Lucian looks at Byron irritated. "Thank you for joining us, Bodiel." Bodiel nods his head, while Lucian continues his monologue, "The boy turned eighteen today."
The room exclaims. Usually, the child never makes it past puberty.
Reluctantly Lucian turns back to Bodiel. "Bodiel, obviously you will make sure he learns the necessary, and you will take him into your fold, be his father figure so he grows to trust you." Suddenly Lucian is laughing wickedly. "That shouldn't be hard, as you are already his father. However, do not forget, if this miserable half-breed survives for the next seven years, you will be sacrificing him so that we may all return to our rightful home. I am so sick of this place."
All those gathered in the room knew Lucifer was near breaking point, he has been well behaved during the last hundred years, only partaking in a few minor wars and acts of genocide, mainly in Africa, but his tension is building toward something big. Killing large amounts of people simultaneously is a great outlet for Lucifer.
Abruptly Lucian turns and walks out the room, his red cloak sweeping behind him.
Moments later, he returns with Lucas. He leads Lucas to the altar and then with his arm around Lucas' shoulders he turns him to face the congregation. "Lucas let me introduce you to your brothers."
A sigh murmurs through the room.
