Description
Learn to sign the ABC’s using American Sign Language (ASL) in this fun and colorful eBook! Your child will laugh and sign their way to a new language. Adorable 'Signing Friends' will teach your child 78 ASL signs – the 26 alphabet signs and two sign words for each letter! It is packed full of letters and signs that your child will love and if you read and sign along…you will too!
Stories and Signs with Mr.C wants to be a guiding friend.
This series of books are written with a ‘Progressive Learning’ approach for children ages 3-10. Progressively your child will enjoy and learn from this eBook for many years to come. Each time the story is read, they will remember more and more of the signs. Your child will become confident and be able to read the stories and sign the words at the same time.
Mr.C suggests that you…
1. Read the Story - Start by reading the entire story to your child all the way through. Notice the sign word pictures but don’t stop to focus on them. This will give them the continuity of the story first.
2. Focus on the Sign Words
Read the story again, this time stopping to sign the two words at the top of each page that’s being demonstrated by our ‘Signing Friends’. Remind your child to use their hands!
3. Combine the Story & Signs
Read the story, showing your child the colorful words that tell them when to use the matching sign words at the top of the page. Sign all the underlined words as well – these are words they have learned on previous pages.
The Benefits of Learning Sign Language:
• Eye-hand coordination
• Reading development
• Spelling proficiency
• Communication development
• Integrated brain activities
• Raises self-esteem
• Parent-child bonding when done together
